I have heaps of literature/films in stock for anything French themed but would like to know whether anyone has read/seen anything particularly exciting in the past few months? I think it may also be time for me to finally watch the much-lauded Trois Couleurs trilogy. ..
I thought I'd also take the opportunity to thank a couple of gorgeous bloggers for awards that they have kindly bestowed on Literary Relish this week! The lovely Cynthia (who has a brilliantly quirky blog - take a look!) with the Liebster award and the fabulous BundleofBooks (a Twitter fave!) with the Sunshine Award.
I've already been given the Liebster Award by Victoria Corby just recently so I won't BORE you all with too much inane information about myself and just treat you to BundleofBooks ten short, snappy questions:
1. Favourite colour – Red (Fiery!)
2. Favourite animal – Cat
3. Favourite number – 7
4. Favourite non-alcoholic drink – Lychee juice...mmmmmm!
5. Prefer Facebook or Twitter – Twitter
6. My passion – Books!
7. Prefer Giving or Getting presents – I prefer giving more than getting as I get older....am I becoming less selfish?!
8. Favourite pattern – Polka dots. Like Minnie.
9. Favourite day of the week – Thursday. It's the new Friday!
10. Favourite flower – Tulips
Have you read A Moveable Feast yet? If not you're in for such a treat! Intouchables is a very funny film, the French success of 2011 and it's out on DVD here now. I also loved The Private Lives of the Impressionists by Sue Roe which is a group biography and not about the saucy things the group got up to! Finally, annoyingly written but fascinating is The Lost Mona Lisa by RA Scotti, about the theft of the Mona Lisa in 1911. Some of the details are jaw dropping.
ReplyDeleteI have NEVER read A Moveable Feast and have been told to read it specifically about 3 times in as many months so perhaps that should be the first on my list?! The boyfriend loves it. Great suggestions keep them coming!! Good mix as well..not pure literature...
DeleteNot fancy joining in yourself? :)
I love the expression "cornbeefy English legs" which I'm sure is not true!
ReplyDeleteYou're so nice Lorraine but it is so true! Especially with this unseasonable English weather we're having at the moment ;-)
DeleteBonjour, ma douce amie! I so look forward to reading all about your Paris in July adventures!
ReplyDeleteSalut ma chère! :-) You too! It's the perfect break for summer I need...just let my brain float along pretending I'm sitting in the Tuileries eating a baguette....:)
DeleteI can't wait to spend the month reading your French posts :) July is by far one of my favorite months of year, mainly because Paris in July almost makes me feel like I'm back in France :)
ReplyDeleteOh I know how you feel. My best friend is now moving back which makes me need a month immersed in Frenchness even more. Perhaps I should be calling the blog Literary [formerly French] Relish ;-) Can't wait to follow your July as well :)
DeleteSo glad you are joining us for Paris in July this year! Can't wait to read all about your experiences...
ReplyDeleteI can't wait Karen!
